With an emphasis on color and form, Aquilino displays a master's touch in composing the rich geometry of city massing. "The cityscapes have made me change the way I look at the urban environment. Even though I lived in NYC for 22 years, I now explore areas I would never have paid attention to. For example, industrial areas provide great shapes and forms especially at certain times of the day when the light is more angled." Aquilino's influences include Lucian Freud, Chuck Close and Gustav Klimt; all three inspire him for their use of paint prior to subject matter. Aquilino's work is in public and private collections including the National Association of Home Builders. Aquilino studied art in New York at New York University, The Art Students League and The School of Visual Arts.
